Hepatitis B

All students are required to have a Hepatitis B vaccine with dates of each injection or immune titer if vaccine received 10 years ago. Three (3) HBV injections are needed.Students are required to have obtained HBV Injection 1 within two weeks of the beginning of the scheduled semester, followed by Injection 2 in one month, and Injection 3 within six months of Injection 1, in order to enter the clinical setting. Failure to obtain the completed series (3 injections), according to the Centers for Disease Control's established timeframe, means the student will not be permitted to participate in patient care contact required in clinical experiences.

Documentation: Students are expected to provide written documentation of Hepatitis B vaccine to the EMSON secretary to maintain clinical clearance.
