POLICY FOR MANAGEMENT OF A STUDENT INJURY IN THE CLINICAL SETTING OR CAMPUS LABORATORY:

  1. If the injury occurs in the Clinical Setting:
    1. Fill out an incident report for the clinical agency and submit a copy of the report (complete with appropriate signatures) to the School of Nursing.
    2. Fill out an Eleanor Mann School of Nursing incident report and submit to the School of Nursing.
    3. File incident report in student cumulative record.
  2. If the injury occurs in the Campus Laboratory:
    1. Fill out an Eleanor Mann School of Nursing incident report and submit to the School of Nursing.
    2. File incident report in student cumulative record.
  3. Assessment of the student's status is required.
    1. If the clinical agency has an emergency service department with a physician available, the student is required to be evaluated by the physician at that time. If the clinical agency does not offer this service, or when the injury occurs in the campus laboratory, the student is required to be evaluated by a physician at the University of Arkansas Health Center. A report of the attending physician's assessment of the student's status and/or recommended treatment must be submitted to the School of Nursing.
  4. The expenses for the above assessment and/or treatment will be borne by the student.
