In grievances relating to grades, it is important to remember that the instructor has the responsibility for assignment of grades. Appeal of grades, therefore, will not be considered at levels above the course instructor unless the student offers evidence of the following:
A disagreement with the judgment made by the instructor is not a valid basis for an appeal. Appeals must be made through appropriate channels as described below and outlined in detail in the University Of Arkansas Catalog Of Studies Policy on Student Academic Appeals and Complaints. All grievances concerning course grades must be filed within one calendar year of the end of the term in which the grade that is being appealed was assigned.
Students should make every attempt to resolve any disputes regarding academic matters with the faculty involved. Students should follow this sequence of contacts when an academic dispute arises:
